Grant Cassidy Grant Cassidy, Chairman, The Edge/The Cassidy Group 

Chairman for seven years of Capricorn Tourism and Development Organisation. Board member of Tourism Queensland and former member of the Governing Council of CQ University. Grant is the Chairman of the Tourism Queensland Audit Committee, is a member of the Institute of Company Directors and hold directorships of eight private companies. He is the owner/operator of several accommodation venues in Rockhampton and has a strong background in marketing and administration having been involved in the operation and management of a number of radio stations throughout the Central Queensland Region.

Michelle Comley Michelle Comley, Deputy Chairman, Budget Car Rental 

Previous Board member of Capricorn Tourism and Development Organisation. Michelle is the owner/operator of Budget Car Rentals Rockhampton & Gladstone. Michelle’s family has been operating the Budget Franchise in Gladstone for 28 years and in Rockhampton for 10 years.

Brad Carter Cr Brad Carter, Permanent Director, Mayor of Rockhampton Regional Council 

Elected the first Mayor of Rockhampton Regional Council on March 15, 2008 as an independent candidate. Previous Board member of Rockhampton Regional Development Ltd.  Cr. Carter has extensive knowledge and experience in economic, business and regional development in regional Queensland.

Cr Peter Maguire Cr Peter Maguire, Permanent Director, Mayor of Central Highlands Regional Council 

Elected the first Mayor of Central Highlands Regional Council on March 15, 2008 as an independent candidate.  Cr. Maguire was previously Deputy Mayor Emerald Shire Council for 8 years from 1992-2000 and Mayor Emerald Shire Council April 2000-March 2008 and Councillor on the Emerald Shire Council for 20 years.   Cr. Maguire is also partner in family owned and operated Travel Agency since 1977 and previously worked in family owned and operated stock, station and real estate agency.

Scott Bowman Prof Scott Bowman, Permanent Director, Vice Chancellor CQUniversity  

Previous Board member of Rockhampton Regional Development Ltd. Currently Vice-Chancellor and President of CQUniversity Australia.  Previously Deputy Vic-Chancellor University Services and Registrar at James Cook University, Head of the School of Clinical Sciences at Charles Sturt University

Steve McKosker Stephen McCosker, DC Motors Rockhampton 

Working in the Automotive Industry for more than 25 years, Steve purchased DC Motors from Neville Callagham in August 2006 with aspirations to grow and improve the business into a complete show piece over the next 10 to 15 years. Always keen to show his support, Steve is Deputy Chairman of the Board of Patrons for the Youth Outreach Centre in Rockhampton.

Sandy Murdoch Sandy Murdoch, Concept Living Properties/Oshen  

Tourism member. Sandy has held voluntary positions on the board of the Brisbane Chapter of ‘Entrepreneurs’ organisation (EO) from 2006-2008 serving in a number of positions including ‘Forum’, ‘Sponsorship’ and ‘Mentoring’ chairs. Prior member of CTDO and RRDL.Currently Sandy operates Concept Living Properties (Oshen Yeppoon) and has experience in sales, marketing, position and branding. Has knowledge of communications strategies and execution which can increase the awareness of CQ beyond the region and encourage business investment. Supports the transformation of the Rockhampton/Capricorn Region to attract broader tourism and corporate clientele and industry investment.

Scott McCartney Scott McCartney, Specialty Travel 

Previous Board member of Capricorn Tourism and Development Organisation and previous Chairman of the former RTBI (Rockhampton & Tourist Business Information). Secretary of the Rockhampton Cattle Club 2008-2011.  Scott operates Specialty Travel and Auto Travel in Rockhampton and is a 4th generation ‘Central Queenslander’. Through a portfolio of extensive travel experiences, and active engagement with clients travelling overseas, Scott can offer a good understanding of travel trends, ideas and innovations to enhance the regions appeal.

Graham Scott Graeme Scott, Graham Scott & Associates 

Graeme has chaired a variety of committees including the Capricorn Coast Local Marine Advisory Committee (2001-2009), Capreef, Waterpark Creek Environmental Reference Group (2004-2009), and been a member of the Great Barrier Reef Consultative Committee (2004-2006).  He was a director of RRDL prior to the merge with Capricorn Tourism and is the director of Graham Scott & Associates. He has broad experience through consulting engineering, operating a charter vessel and involvement with GBRMPA and believes an integrated approach needs to be taken with Economic Development and Tourism. Graham strongly believes that the region needs to maintain and enhance its strengths as a commercial centre with excellent health, education, retail and recreation advantages and need to look towards encouraging multiple projects across the region.

Julie Tanner Julie Tanner, Tanner Consulting 

Has been a Board Member on the Institute for Health and Social Science Research Advisory Board (CQU)

and Blueheeler-National Performing Arts Touring Board, member of the Communities Advisory Committee (RRDL, and Inclusive Communities Focus Group (CE).  Julie was proudly born and educated in the region and has had strategic and operational experience working at the national level in Australian Performing Arts and Visual Arts.  In 2004 Julie transferred these valuable funding and project skills into a successful social impact consultancy, Tanner consulting, working across sectors and contributing to over $200 million in projects, programs, reports and studies across Queensland. Julie has a vision to drive the economy of this region through engaging internal communities of interest and utilising world best proactive approaches for innovative and sustainable outcomes. Highly focused on creative and cultural expansion in the region as an economic and social development opportunity.

Heather Peirano Heather Peirano, Piranha Insurance 

Heather has served as a committee member on the Council of Queensland Insurance Brokers and on the board of RTBI, and has been the Chairperson of the Beef Expo Social Committee for three expositions. Previous member of CTDO and RRDL. Has had 20 years experience in the insurance industry during which time Heather has operated a profitable insurance brokerage, Piranha Insurance Agencies. Heathers’ personal financial and emotional attachment to the region combines with her knowledge, communications skills and experience which will be an asset to the future directions of the community and Capricorn Enterprise.

Steve Leighton Steve Leighton, Ergon Energy 

Steve has extensive knowledge in the development, operation and maintenance of the electricity supply network and has a detailed knowledge of all aspects relating to design, installation, testing, commissioning, operations, maintenance and safety. As General Manager Operations, Steve has responsibility for Ergon Energy’s operations in its Central Region and is directly responsible for overall customer response/service delivery and stakeholder interface within the region. His key areas of focus are to ensure that whatever  Ergon Energy is doing in the course of engaging with the community is done in the safest, most cost effective and timely manner to drive real value for the customers.

Geoff Clarke Geoff Clarke, Chameleon 

Chairman and Director of Chameleon Group of Companies. Geoff has personal history in Rockhampton with projects which place Rockhampton in the category of an innovative region and has a desire to steer Central Queensland beyond the era of coal and LNG. He has the imagination, the capacity and the ability to take the vision and words and create the reality.
