Employment growth strong across Capricorn Coast and Rockhampton region

With the release of March quarter 2023 unemployment and labour force statistics, it’s clear that the Capricorn Coast and Rockhampton region is continuing to forge ahead.

The number of persons in the labour force (67,921 persons) has continued to grow, with an additional 4,624 persons now employed or seeking work compared to the March quarter 2022, an increase of 7.3% over the year.

Although the percentage of unemployed persons rose slightly from the previous quarter, up 0.1 percentage points to 3.5%, this figure is the lowest in more than 12 years and is lower than rates in Queensland.

Capricorn Enterprise CEO Mary Carroll said, “With increasing confidence in our economy, the number of jobs in our region continues to grow which is driving population growth and encouraging others to return to the workforce.

“With continued strong demand for labour from major projects and within the tourism and hospitality industry, the future is very bright for our region.”

This year’s Major Projects and Industry Forum will provide greater detail about regional projects and topical information to business and industry on Thursday 19th October at the Frenchville Sports Club.
